"3. "International Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference" (ITSC'23) was held successfully with wide participation.

BAUSMER Director and Chair Organizing Committee, Prof. Dr. Mehmet TEKTAŞ, hosted a successful conference where nearly twenty full-text papers were presented and many scientists, public and private sector representatives from Türkiye and abroad participated.

The opening speech of the conference was made by BAUSMER Director Prof. Dr. It was carried out by Mehmet TEKTAŞ, and the studies carried out by our university and BAUSMER in the field of ITS, the projects they realized and the academic opportunities they developed were emphasized.

The first session of the conference was completed with the valuable participation of the General Director of the General Directorate of Geographic Information Systems of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mr. Ömer ALAN and the ITS Türkiye Chairwoman of the Board of Directors & Deputy General Manager of the General Directorate of Communications Ms. Esma DİLEK. In the speeches given at the session, the national studies and projects carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and ITS Türkiye in the field of ITS were explained in lenght. During the session, a verbal agreement was reached on cooperation within the scope of Smart Cities under the leadership of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and BAUSMER.

Afternoon sessions were moderated by Prof. Dr. Mehmet TEKTAŞ and Asst. Prof. Dr. Caner PENSE. Interactive and effective presentations were given during the sessions with lots of participation from invited speakers and guests.

In the presentations of the invited speakers from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change were Mr. Bestami KARA, Mr. Gökhan BİLGİN, Mr. Ömer Faruk ERİŞ and Mr. Selami SUNGUN, a strong the emphasis is on collaborations with local and foreign partners working in the Smart Cities and Smart Transportation Systems ecosystem was present. Moreover, a significant progress in open source domestic and national software development have been made and will continue with great momentum.

Head of the Library Department of our University, Mr. Barış YILDIRIM gave information about the important milestones our library has achieved in terms of physical and online access opportunities during his presidency since its establishment.

Our students from the Waterbenders team, who aim to participate in Teknofest on behalf of our university, Mr. Ahmet HANCI, Mr. Haydar PALAVAR, Ms. Emine AĞAYA gave information about their ROV Project.

The invited speakers, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müjdat SOYTÜRK of  from Marmara University and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Mutlu AYDIN of Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University, two of the highly experienced names in the field of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles in Intelligent Transportation Systems presented and discussed in depth on Connected and Autonomous Vehicles projects and Career Planning in Intelligent Transportation Systems. The presentations and the information provided by the academics in the question/answer section were met with great interest by the participants. 

The last sessions of the first day were moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr.Selahattin KONUŞUNALP. In their presentations, authors presented their full text papers on Transportation Management Systems, ADAS and EPS Systems, Artificial Intelligence in Smart Transportation.

On the second day of the conference, Prof. Dr. Necla TEKTAŞ, Assoc. Dr. Selahattin KONUSHUNALP, Asst. Prof. Dr. Caner PENSE, Res. Asst. Fatih ERGEZER and Res. Asst. Şerife Gülsüm DEMİR moderated five sessions where paper presentations continued. A total of 18 full-text papers were presented on a wide range of topics, from Space Sciences to Agricultural Logistics, from Artificial Intelligence to Transportation of Disabled Individuals, reflecting the multidisciplinary structure of ITS.

On the third day of the conference, the first session on "Intelligent Methods in Transportation Planning" was moderated by Prof. Dr. Mehmet TEKTAŞ . In the session, a presentation was made by Master Civil Engineer Cengiz UNCU on "New Trends in Transportation Planning" about of several simulation-based transportation planning projects he has delivered on behalf of BAUSMER.

Then, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ilgın GÖKAŞAR of Boğaziçi University made her presentation titled "Evaluation of New Trends in ITS". The outputs of several projects and studies based on C-ITS, autonomous vehicles and sustainability were shared.

In the last session, the "YLSY and ÖYP" session moderated by Prof. Dr. Necla TEKTAŞ, an informative presentation about YLSY was made by Merve Seher CEBECİ from Delft University of Technology. In the session, the experiences of postgraduate students studying abroad and the problems faced by YLSY and ÖYP students were discussed.

3rd International Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference ended with the closing speech of Prof. Dr. Mehmet TEKTAŞ.
